Ave. 50 Studio Benefit 9-27-2008

On September 27, 2008, poets from across Southern California will gather for a benefit poetry marathon at Ave. 50 Studio in LA's Highland Park. The gallery, directed by Kathy Gallegos, was burglarized and a valuable computer system, back up files and mailing lists were lost. Among the writers who will read at a non-stop, around-the-clock poetry jam are luminaries such as Luís Rodríguez, Gloria Alvarez, Jerry Quickley, Sesshu Foster, Steve Abee, Peter J. Harris. Don Newton and Laura Longoria, co-curators of the monthly Ave. 50 poetry series "La Palabra" will also host a special one-hour segment with writers who have been featured in the series. Other poets scheduled to read are benefit coordinator Rafael Alvarado, Abel Salas, Pamela Ward and Corrie Greathouse.

The readings will take place from 10 a.m. to midnight at Ave. 50 Studio, 131 N. Avenue 50. Highland Park, CA 90042. Call 323-258-1435 for ticket/admission prices. For more information, email md84rfja65@yahoo.com
